Under the leadership of the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty's Directorate General for Business Economic and Environmental Performance (DGPE), the French delegation brought together public and professional bodies. INAO was represented by the Presidents of the Comité national des Appellations d'origine relatives aux vins et aux boissons alcoolisées, et des boissons spiritueuses, Mr. Christian Paly, and of the Comité national des Indications Géographiques Protégées relatives aux vins et aux cidres, Mr. Éric Paul, accompanied by the management.

The French delegation also included the President of the Comité national des Appellations d'origine relatives aux vins et aux boissons alcoolisées, Mr. Christian Paly, and the President of the Comité national des Indications Géographiques Protégées relatives aux vins et aux cidres, Mr. Éric Paul.

Promoting the concept of geographical indications

In addition to taking part in conferences organized by the OIV, which will feed into the work of the institute, this event was also an opportunity for bilateral meetings with the Mexican Ministry of Agriculture, as well as its professional wine organizations. The aim was to promote the concept of geographical indications and identify avenues for cooperation.

While Mexican viticulture is a recent development, it is facing, as in France, the impacts of climate change, marked in particular by increasingly critical water management.

French viticulture, its organization as well as the public policies that accompany it, are observed there with great attention, which fueled numerous exchanges.
