Meeting on June 11 and 12, 2025, INAO's Comité national des appellations d'origine relatives aux vins, boissons alcoolisées et spiritueux examined a number of structuring topics for the wine and cider industries. This work is part of a drive to modernize specifications, strengthen the sustainability of official quality signs, and take into account the challenges of adapting to climate change.

In 2022, INAO supervised 1,204 products, including 366 PDO/PDO wines, 17 PDO spirits and 5 PDO/PDO ciders and perries, 105 PDO agrifoods (including 51 dairy products) and 2 forestry PDOs. INAO also oversees 76 PGI wines, 35 GI spirits, 2 PGI ciders, 148 PGI food products, 5 TSGs and 443 Label Rouge products. For the organic farming sector, in 2020 in France there were more than 89,030 committed operators (producers, processor, distributor and importer).
