The 45th World Congress of Vine and Wine will be held in Dijon in October 2024
France will host the 45th edition of the World Congress of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) in Dijon from October 14 to 18, 2024. The event will be an opportunity to celebrate the centenary of this important international institution also known as the "UN of wine", which brings together more than 500 experts in this sector from 50 countries. INAO will be taking part in this major gathering of the wine industry, whose theme this year is "Vine and wine, an innovative heritage facing the challenges of the century".

The creation of the OIV dates back to 1924 in Paris, against the backdrop of an international wine crisis linked to the proliferation of Phylloxera, a parasitic vine aphid. 100 years on, the wine industry is also at a turning point in its history. It is facing major challenges: market uncertainties and upheavals, climate change and changing societal expectations. The Congress will look back over the OIV's 100 years of activity, and outline the industry's future prospects. Thus, the theme chosen for this event, "the vine and wine, an innovative heritage facing the challenges of the century", will show the excellence of the wine industry, rooted in the territories and testimony to a multi-secular cultural heritage, but also its capacity for innovation to meet the contemporary challenges it faces.
The Congress will bring together several hundred vine and wine experts from the organization's 50 member states, researchers and scientists in Dijon, at the heart of a benchmark wine and gastronomy region. On this occasion, the OIV will inaugurate its new headquarters. Located in the Hôtel Bouchu d'Esterno, a historic building in the city of Dijon built in the 17th century, the new headquarters will become the global hub for exchanges between the various players in the wine sector.
