INAO participation in the OIV 2023 congress on the theme of "wine and new technologies".
From June 5 to 9, the congress of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) was held in Cadiz and Jerez de la Fontera, Spain, marking the start of the International Year of Vine and Wine. The main themes of this year's conference focused on the contribution of new technologies, particularly digital, to viticulture.
Special attention was paid to the role of new technologies in viticulture.
A delegation of experts, professionals and government representatives
France was represented by a delegation of experts, professionals and government representatives, who were able to discuss issues of common interest with the 49 countries that make up this international organization.
The INAO, alongside the direction des douanes et des droits indirects (DGDDI) and FranceAgriMer, was notably able to present the contributions of the computerized vineyard register (CVI) in terms of vineyard monitoring and innovation.
Franco-Spanish meeting: common challenges
A Franco-Spanish meeting, bringing together professionals and administrations, also provided an opportunity to present the actions implemented in both countries, particularly in terms of adaptation and mitigation in the face of climate change in viticulture, the start of future collaborations.
Next congress in France, in Dijon in October 2024
Also, John Barker has been elected as the new Director General of the OIV. He will take up his post on January 1, 2024, succeeding Pau Roca, who was warmly thanked for his involvement over the past 5 years.
Finally, France has announced that it will host the next OIV congress in Dijon in autumn 2024. The event will mark the 100th anniversary of the OIV. The organization dates back to 1924 in Paris, where the founding treaty was signed by eight member states (France, Spain, Tunisia, Italy, Portugal, Hungary, Luxembourg and Greece).
