A defense and management organization is a structure (association, trade union or even interprofessional organization) set up on the initiative of a group of operators, notably for agri-food products, producers and processors, ensuring the same production. As part of an application for recognition, this structure is responsible for the process of obtaining recognition for a sign of origin or quality. At the end of the appraisal it is recognized as a defense and management organization, with the mission of drawing up specifications and protecting and promoting the product.

Recognition as a GDO

Any product under an official sign of identification of quality and origin (SIQO) must be managed by a single defense and management organization. Recognition as an ODG takes place at the same time as application for recognition of a SIQO. INAO is responsible for the recognition and monitoring of ODGs.
