Invited to the Agence Bio stand, INAO spoke about the place of products with official signs of quality and origin - SIQO - in the context of the EGALIM law. Nathalie Vucher, President of the INAO's Conseil des agréments et contrôle and Communication Commission, was in charge of the presentation. This workshop, entitled "50% sustainable and quality products, including 20% organic: presentation and deciphering of the EGALIM law", was co-presented by Mathilde Leygnac from the Bureau du pilotage de la politique de l'alimentation at the French Ministry of Agriculture and Food, who presented the EGALIM law and the product categories that fall within the 50% sustainable and quality products. Nathalie Vucher took a close-up look at SIQOs, showing how they fit into this 50%.

SIQO control is a specific feature of the system

In particular, she emphasized that SIQO products comply with strict production conditions as described in their respective full specifications, each element of which is regularly checked by an independent body. SIQO control is a specific feature of the system. It is highly structured and precise, supervised by the public authorities, and ensures compliance with every point of the specifications. Control is one of the pillars of the SIQO system, and is the key to guaranteeing specific quality, which is important both for consumers and for the professionals who produce the products, because this recognized specific quality creates value. Lastly, each speaker detailed the support tools put in place to help mass caterers apply the EGALIM law. On the INAO side, a campaign has been launched to support professionals and sectors in applying the law, with guides, an educational video and B-to-B meetings (presences at trade fairs).
