Viticulture: it is recommended that rootstocks be entered in the CVI [ODG].
The scientific experts of the Vigne section of the CTPS (Comité Technique Permanent de la Sélection des plantes cultivées) are encouraging growers to fill in the rootstock in the planting declaration for the Casier Viticole Informatisé. Although optional, this approach is of great scientific interest, for the benefit of the entire industry.

Knowing the rootstock planted in each vineyard plot is essential for conducting large-scale analysis. The information gathered contributes in particular to studies on the use of planting material within the wine industry, its evolution, its management and even its evaluation. It also makes it possible:
- to communicate transparently on the deployment of new rootstock varieties,
- to maintain the relevance of the new Casier Viticole Informatisé (nCVI) on the entire genetic identity of vine plants (rootstock and grape variety),
- to monitor rootstock behavior across the territory,
- to identify any new technical or health issues.
A contribution to plant material research in the winegrowing sector
France has a leading position in the field of vine plant material, in particular for research and selection work, also conducted on rootstocks. Rootstocks are at the heart of questions concerning the adaptation of plant material for the wine industry, and are the focus of several research projects, notably in relation to climate change and tolerance to water stress.
Although entering the rootstock is optional in the nCVI, the experts from the CTPS Vigne section therefore encourage all ODGs to encourage producers to enter this information when declaring vine planting in the PARCEL online service.
