The climatic, health, economic and geopolitical context of the year 2022 has had a major impact on the agricultural world in general and on quality and origin identification signs (SIQO) in particular. For INAO, it was a year marked by transitions:

  • Transitions in the face of contemporary challenges : in the face of drought and the avian influenza epizootic, INAO dealt rigorously and responsively with requests for temporary modifications to production conditions. INAO also pursued and accelerated the reflections already underway on the concrete evolution of specifications, to achieve resilient and sustainable production systems in the face of climate change and consumer demand, without altering product characteristics. Several courses of action have thus been defined to enable quality signs to adapt to these contemporary challenges.
  • Regulatory transition: the institute's governing bodies and departments mobilized to accompany professionals faced with the entry into force of the new organic regulation and the "CAP omnibus" regulation with regard to aspects affecting SIQO;
  • Internal transition: the INAO's governing bodies began a new five-year term in 2022. The institute's teams accompanied this installation phase to maintain the continuity of INAO's work.

Faced with market developments, ever more marked societal expectations, and increasingly pervasive climate disruption, the actions of INAO and its decision-making bodies carried out in 2022 were thus resolutely oriented towards three essential objectives central to the SIQOs of today and tomorrow: adapt, communicate and accompany.
