Nearly 200 professionals, representatives of public institutions and international organizations, the trade and control bodies took part in the event. 40 countries were represented at this 3-day biennial event, held at oriGIn headquarters. France was represented in particular by the INAO, as well as by various professionals from SIQO sectors (Champagne, Roquefort, Comté, Saint-Nectaire, Camembert de Normandie, Canard à foie gras du Sud-Ouest, etc.). To round off the event, a field trip organized by the interprofession enabled participants to discover the "Gruyère" PDO, Switzerland's emblematic cheese.

Cross-disciplinary work on sustainability

The thematic sessions on offer enabled the various agricultural players to share perspectives and exchange views on their future sustainability initiatives. The INAO's actions on the subject were exchanged. The FAO also announced the publication of a methodological guide on the subject in three languages (English, French and Spanish), scheduled for 2024. It will provide practical tools to help stakeholders assess the sustainability of geographical indications, and present the best practices identified. The guide will be based on research carried out by a transversal sustainability working group set up by oriGIn and the FAO, to which INAO has been an active contributor since its inception.
