The INAO is seeking to raise awareness and mobilize stakeholders concerned by the legal protection of GIs. To this end, the Institute organized a first conference on the subject in 2024. Following the success of the initiative and very positive feedback from participants, a new edition will be held in November 2025. ODGs, administrations and federations are invited to attend and exchange views on the latest developments and protection issues.

An essential action to guarantee the long-term future of GIs

Alongside other administrations, INAO is the guarantor of French geographical indications. In France and abroad, the Institute ensures that the names of products bearing official signs of origin are not usurped or misappropriated. Defense and management organizations have an important role to play in carrying out these protection measures. This conference will enable you to find out more, in particular about the actions taken and to be taken.
