A Look Back at the 2026 CNAOL General Assembly
The CNAOL’s annual general meeting was held on September 24 and 25, 2026, in Cahors, providing an opportunity to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the “Rocamadour” AOP. Discussions focused on consumer outreach, protection, climate risks, and issues surrounding raw milk.
“Attracting and Protecting: How Can PDOs Meet Consumer Expectations While Strengthening Consumer Protection?” was the theme of the CNAOL general assembly, which took place on September 24 and 25, 2026, in Cahors. The event’s program included farm visits, a thematic symposium, roundtable discussions, and a gala dinner showcasing the 52 dairy appellations.
This General Assembly, which brought together all 52 dairy appellations, was also held against the backdrop of the climate-related tensions that have been affecting agricultural production since last spring. Lively discussions regarding how to adapt to the current situation, as well as the issue of raw milk, were at the heart of the discussions on Friday, the 25th. Participants also took the opportunity to consider necessary adjustments to their communication with consumers, as well as issues related to the protection of their trademarks.
Of note were speeches by Patrice Chassard, president of the INAO’s National Committee for Dairy, Agri-Food, and Forestry Designations of Origin, and by Hubert Dubien, president of the CNAOL. In closing, Patrice Chassard, president of the INAO’s National Committee for Dairy, Agri-Food, and Forestry of the INAO, took the opportunity to speak, emphasizing how issues such as climate change and raw milk were central to the CN AOP’s discussions and necessitated a fundamental rethinking of production systems.
