Development of agro-ecology and preservation of territories: renewed partnership between INAO AND OFB
The Institut national de l'origine et de la qualité (INAO) and the Office français de la biodiversité (OFB), to which France's national parks are attached, renewed their partnership on February 3, in support of the development of quality and origin signs (SIQO), the Esprit parc national brand and agro-ecology.

Contributing to the preservation of territories
Marie GUITTARD, Director of INAO, and Pierre DUBREUIL, Managing Director of OFB, have signed a 4-year partnership agreement between their two establishments. This partnership, based on the complementarity of their missions in the territories, extends the 1st partnership initiated between the INAO and Parcs nationaux de France, now attached to the OFB.
It underlines the shared interest of the two establishments in the development and preservation of territories, and their desire to support the deployment of agro-ecological practices. The OFB and INAO are thus organizing the mobilization and synergies of their respective networks: territorial INAO delegations, organizations for the defense and management of origin and quality identification signs, national parks, protected areas directly managed by the OFB and OFB territorial services.
5 axes of collaboration
The aim of this partnership is to structure collaboration around 5 axes of action:
- Sharing actions on SIQO and the Esprit parc national brand: The Esprit parc national collective brand, owned by the OFB, is deployed by national parks in their territories. The aim is to inform each other of ongoing projects and avoid any confusion in the consumer's mind between the Esprit parc national brand and SIQO (quality and origin identification signs), such as Appellation d'origine protégée, Label rouge or bio for example.
- Accompanying and raising awareness of agro-ecology: Experience-sharing and networking will be on the agenda to support agriculture that is diversified, resilient, remunerative, makes the most of local resources, preserves biodiversity and is rooted in the territories. The aim is also to encourage the integration of criteria on agro-ecological practices in product specifications.
- Protecting agricultural land under SIQO: The aim is to pool information and raise awareness among stakeholders on development projects on agricultural land, in protected areas managed by the OFB.
- Exchanging data: The OFB and INAO undertake to inform each other of the progress of the initiatives undertaken by each: deployment of the Esprit parc national brand in the territories, modification or creation of SIQO, acquisition of new geographical data...
- Communicating and training: The respective networks of the OFB and INAO will be informed of the existence and objectives of this new agreement. Information or training initiatives on the missions and actions of each may be proposed on subjects such as SIQO, national park regulations, agro-ecology...
More about Esprit parc national
Esprit parc national now offers over 1,100 products and services in 10 of France's 11 national parks. Many professionals offer agricultural products that already benefit from official signs of quality and origin. In addition, sourcing products benefiting from SIQO is a mandatory criterion for catering.
