A CRINAO Bourgogne-Beaujolais-Jura-Savoie regional meeting in the Jura, featuring lively discussions

The most recent CRINAO Bourgogne-Beaujolais-Savoie-Jura meeting was held on May 6 at the Maison du Comté in the Jura region. Organized at the initiative of the Société de Viticulture du Jura and other organizations for the protection and management (ODG) of the Jura wine region, this event allowed CRINAO members to discuss current issues facing SIQO and INAO. The discussions were enriched by the notable participation of the Jura dairy sector operating under SIQO.

Discussions on the realignment of wine production specifications

This session allowed industry professionals to address the issue of refocusing wine production specifications. The committee reviewed the input from each small vineyard in its sector before determining whether each production requirement was “essential” or “non-essential” in light of the specific characteristics of the appellations. These discussions are fully in line with the changes and simplifications to the regulations envisaged in the “INAO 2028” project.

Discussions spurred by the sharing of experiences across sectors

As the host of this traveling event, the “Comté” AOP was able to present the process that led to the recent approval of the amendment to its specifications. The dairy sector thus discussed the measures it has implemented to incorporate sustainability issues and the ability to adapt to climate and economic uncertainties into its planning. Participants highlighted the common nature of the challenges currently facing sectors under the SIQO certification system and appreciated the opportunity to share experiences and approaches.

The discussions concluded with a convivial buffet that brilliantly paired Franche-Comté AOP cheeses with Jura wines.
