A native of the Tarn region, Alain Mur began his career as an oenologist at cooperative wineries in the Pays d'Aude. He then worked at Onivins, the predecessor of FranceAgriMer, before joining the INAO as regional director for the Southwest. He was subsequently appointed national delegate, responsible in particular for the certification of products under the SIQO program, and then served as a national inspector until 2013, overseeing internal audits and international cooperation missions. 

He also taught for nearly 25 years in the Master 2 program in “Vine and Wine Law” at the University of Bordeaux.
