SIQO and societal expectations: regional meetings with ODGs continue [ODG].

Climate change, sustainability, water, the environment, animal welfare, decarbonization...In order to develop synergies in the face of these common challenges, INAO has organized regional meetings with defense and management organizations (ODG), on the theme "SIQO facing societal expectations". From June 7 to September 14, 2023, 9 meetings were held across France. An opportunity to share local, regional and national practices and initiatives.

The context of agricultural production and consumer expectations is changing. Faced with these challenges, official quality and origin identification signs (SIQO) are adapting. A number of discussions and initiatives have already been undertaken, by the ODGs, sectors and their federations, as well as by INAO bodies (Permanent Council, national committees, etc.). In order to consolidate this momentum, INAO is mobilized to support the players who bring SIQO products to life.

Exchange days close to the field

The meetings enabled professionals to share information on the various initiatives undertaken. On the program: presentation of the discussions taking place within the INAO and SIQO sectors, testimonials of several concrete examples of how GDOs have taken societal expectations into account, both within and outside specifications, followed by discussions, but also time for collaborative work. The discussions will feed into future support tools and mobilize all players around these forward-looking issues. Cross-functionality is essential if SIQOs are to meet the challenges of today and tomorrow, as well as the expectations of consumers and society.
