International GI Conference in Rome: present your sustainability initiatives [ODG].
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) is organizing an international conference dedicated to global perspectives on geographical indications, from February 18 to 21, 2025.

This second conference for researchers, policymakers and practitioners will focus on "innovations and traditions for sustainability". In this context, the FAO has launched a call for contributions, particularly from GDOs and FBOs, to share experiences and initiatives in sustainability, whether economic, social, environmental or governance-related. Projects must demonstrate the ability of GI sectors to adapt to multiple changes, while preserving the framework of tradition and know-how. Contributions must be submitted by September 30, 2024. They will be evaluated by the conference's scientific committee. Selected contributions may be included in the conference proceedings.
A cross-fertilization between professionals and researchers
This conference follows on from the one organized in July 2022 in Montpellier. It brought together over 200 participants from 47 countries. It is organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Italian Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry (MASAF), with CIRAD (Centre de coopération internationale en recherche agronomique pour le développement), IPI (Institut Fédéral de la Propriété Intellectuelle), oriGIn (Organization for an International Geographical Indications Network), Origin Italia and the Qualivita Foundation.
