What is your initial training?

I trained as an agricultural engineer, specializing in agriculture and sustainable development of territories, I first had the opportunity to join the statistics and foresight departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty. Subsequently, I held the position of research officer with a private firm specializing in the evaluation and monitoring of agricultural and maritime policies, socio-economic studies and consulting and support for players in the agricultural, food and maritime sectors.

I'm looking forward to working with you.

Felix Kane

Why did you choose INAO?

Having worked in the world of SIQO in the course of my career, it was only natural that I should turn to INAO, with the aim of playing a full part in the development of SIQO, which I see as real guarantees of origin and quality for consumers, and vectors of multiple assets for our agriculture and our farmers.

The INAO agents I interact with are a real source of fulfillment, through their competence, knowledge and expertise.

What are your main duties as PDO, PGI and TSG Technical and Regulatory Officer in the Agricultural and Food Products Division?

Within multi-disciplinary teams, I am involved in the fruit and vegetable, beekeeping, confectionery and pastry-making sectors, with a view to gaining recognition for or developing products with Protected Geographical Indication, Protected Designation of Origin, and Traditional Speciality Guarantees.

The aim of this teamwork is to provide the best possible support to professionals in charge of defending and managing quality signs, by offering technical and regulatory support, in line with the orientations of the INAO's National Committees.
This work is presented to the INAO's deliberative bodies, which vote, or not, to approve these new specifications. My job also involves follow-up and exchanges with the European Commission, after these new specifications have been forwarded to it.

My job also involves other missions: involvement in various working groups, participation in the national "economy" commission, technical and regulatory watch, direct response to requests from professionals, etc.

What are your sources of fulfillment in this job?

First and foremost, it's being at the service of quality and trust-based sectors that drives me, in a world where the agricultural sector is sometimes disparaged. Then there's the real satisfaction of seeing applications for PGI, PDO or TSG recognition succeed after several years' work.
