Official signs of quality and origin (SIQO)
In France and Europe, official logos are used to recognize products that benefit from an official sign of identification of quality and origin (SIQO).
They provide an official guarantee for consumers: guarantee of origin (AOC and AOP, IGP), guarantee of superior quality (Label Rouge), guarantee of a traditional recipe (STG), guaranteed respect for the environment and animal welfare (organic farming).
The principles
- A collective, voluntary approach from producers or a group of producers
- Strict production conditions validated by the State
- Regular controls carried out by independent bodies approved by the State
