In fact, following meetings of the working group appointed by the CAC (Conseil des Agréments et Contrôles de l'INAO) in 2017 and after consultation with the federation of control bodies (HEXAGONE) and the CNAOC during the summer of 2020, the document received a favorable opinion from the CAC at its meeting on November 26, 2020.

The objectives pursued with the implementation of common control provisions are the harmonization and simplification of the control system for products under official quality and origin signs, throughout the national territory. Control methods and procedures for dealing with non-compliance have been defined for over 50 control points, divided between grape production, winemaking, maturing and packaging activities.

Control plans for appellations of origin in the wine sector will have to be rewritten in the format of specific control provisions in line with these new provisions. Draft control plans rewritten in this way must be submitted to the INAO services on the occasion of any modification to the control plan, and in all cases no later than 02/01/2023.
