SIQO and commitment to the agri-environment

At its meeting on December 3, 2020, the INAO permanent council validated three options that can be chosen by ODGs to collectively commit their operators to an environmental approach and thus strengthen their position in response to societal expectations. These approaches are strictly voluntary.

  • 1- The ODG asks INAO to include one or more standard agri-environmental provisions (DAE) in the SIQO specifications.
  • 2- The ODG undertakes, outside the specifications, to provide collective support for the sign's authorized farms in an environmental certification process or in Organic Agriculture.
  • 3- The ODG asks INAO to include one or more standard agri-environmental provisions (DAE) in the SIQO specifications.

  • 3- The ODG asks the INAO to introduce an official environmental certification obligation (environmental certification of farms or organic farming) into the specifications.

In order to present these three options, the INAO has chosen to produce an information leaflet for ODGs. This document provides an overview of these different possibilities available to GDOs, highlighting the characteristics of each of these options.
