The INAO Celebrates Its 90th Anniversary

Since 1935, the National Institute for Origin and Quality (INAO) has been at the heart of France’s policy to promote agricultural products through official quality and origin identification labels (SIQO). Its work has helped preserve and promote France’s culinary heritage. To celebrate this anniversary, the Institute is organizing a series of events for industry professionals and the general public.

A traveling exhibition tracing the history of the Institute

The INAO and its History Committee have created a traveling exhibition tracing the history of the SIQOs and the INAO, and showcasing the missions the Institute has undertaken since its founding in 1935. Starting in October, this exhibition will begin a tour of France, first in Paris (the National Assembly, the Arborial, and the Ministry of Agriculture) and then to other regions, notably in November 2025 at the Cité des Vins in Beaune, as well as at the headquarters of the International Organization of Vine and Wine (OIV) in December 2025 in Dijon. The full itinerary will be available very soon. The exhibition will also be extended online, with an enhanced digital version available on the INAO website.

In collaboration with the management and protection organizations (ODGs), the INAO is continuing its national communication campaign this year to promote SIQOs. To mark the Institute’s 90th anniversary, specific initiatives are being organized under the tagline “Quality and origin aren’t just a fad / Keep an eye out on the shelves for products that are part of our history!.” This phase of the campaign consists of short video clips that blend archival and contemporary footage to show that SIQO-certified products stand the test of time and are here to stay.

This initiative is followed by a partnership with the content creator and popular historian La Folle histoire:

It is also complemented by a print advertising campaign, featuring ads in the magazines *Cuisine actuelle* / Cuisine actuelle special edition, Dr. Good – quarterly / Dr. Good c’est bon, and National Geographic.

This unprecedented campaign will then continue with Quality and Origin Fortnight, from November 15 to 29, 2025. During this second highlight, events featuring tastings of SIQO-certified products will be organized at 400 locations in large and medium-sized retail stores (GMS) throughout France.
