2025 Charolais Meat of Excellence Competition: SIQO-certified Charolais meat takes center stage!
Showcasing the Charolais breed, the Charolais Meat Excellence Competition was held on November 19, 2025, in Charolles (Saône-et-Loire), as part of the “Quinzaine de la Qualité et de l’Origine” (Fortnight of Quality and Origin). Committed to promoting quality, expertise, and trust, this competition highlights Charolais beef bearing the official quality and origin identification label (SIQO).
At this 6th edition, three SIQO-certified products took center stage: Tendre Charolais Label Rouge, Plaisir Charolais Label Rouge, and AOP Bœuf de Charolles.
A must-attend event for the beef industry
The 2025 Charolais Meat Excellence Competition was held in Charolles, the birthplace of the Charolais breed, a cattle breed renowned for its meat. It began with a rigorous tasting conducted by the judges—experts and enthusiasts of the beef industry. The meats tasted were subject to a rigorous and impartial evaluation, based on tenderness, juiciness, and the unique flavor and aromas of the Charolais breed.
More than just a competition, the Charolais Meat Excellence Contest is an opportunity to highlight the collective work of the rancher, the slaughterer, and the butcher—three key players working together to ensure the quality of exceptional meat. The INAO was represented by Gaétan Richard, a technician from the INAO Centre-Est delegation.
Three SIQO-certified Charolais products in the spotlight
This event is centered around a clear objective: to promote SIQO-certified meats. In the spotlight this year, Tendre Charolais Label Rouge, Plaisir Charolais Label Rouge, and AOP Bœuf de Charolles each highlight the exceptional expertise of farmers who practice extensive grazing, where grass plays a prominent role. All derived from the Charolais breed, these three products exemplify the excellence of this renowned, high-quality beef.
An awards ceremony at the Beef Festival
The contest results will be announced on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at the Charolles Beef Festival, an event during which the exceptional quality of the Charolais breed will once again be celebrated. This competition, a convivial occasion for sharing, is fully in line with the communication strategy led by the INAO. By highlighting the importance and guarantees of official quality and origin labels, this event helps remind consumers that products bearing the SIQO label are true benchmarks of trust.
