INAO at the 61st International Agricultural Show
The 61st Salon International de l'Agriculture took place from February 22 to March 2, 2025, at Paris Expo - Porte de Versailles. INAO took part in several sequences of this major agricultural event, and the official signs of identification of quality and origin (SIQO), a showcase for French agriculture, were particularly honored in the aisles of the show.

Introducing DataSIQO
As part of the promotion of the development of local, high-quality, territorial food, DataSIQO is a new information and decision-making tool based on datavisualization. It provides access to a range of economic data relating to SIQO. It is the fruit of an unprecedented collaboration between Chambres d'agriculture France and the Institut national de l'origine et de la qualité (INAO). On the occasion of the Salon international de l'Agriculture, a presentation of this tool took place on the stand of Chambres d'agriculture France, on Thursday February 27.
Presentation of registration certificates for the "Caviar d'Aquitaine" and "Melon de Cavaillon" PGIs
Two new agri-food PGIs were approved at the beginning of the year:
- The Melon de Cavaillon (February 12, 2025)
- The Caviar d'Aquitaine (February 18, 2025).

To celebrate the event, the European Commission organized a ceremony to award certificates to the defense and management organizations behind these products, the Syndicat des Maîtres Melonniers de Cavaillon and the Association de défense et de promotion du Caviar d'Aquitaine.
It took place on Thursday February 27 at the European Union stand, in the presence of the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Mr. Christophe Hansen, who recalled the importance of this European policy.
An event to celebrate 90 years of INAO, 65 years of Label Rouge and 40 years of the national "AB" logo
.A ceremony organized on the stand of the Ministère de l'Agriculture et de la Souveraineté alimentaire, in the presence of Minister Annie Genevard, provided an opportunity to retrace the history of these emblematic signs of identification of quality and origin (SIQO) and to address the issues and challenges facing the sectors today.
The Minister of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty introduced the sequence by recalling the importance of these signs of trust, the Ministry's desire to continue supporting the development of SIQO sectors, and the special role played by the INAO in this context.

SIQO products are an emblem of our cultural and gastronomic heritage. Supporting and promoting SIQO products means defending a form of agriculture that combines excellence of taste, preservation of the terroir and respect for know-how.

This event celebrated INAO's 90th anniversary. The President of the INAO Permanent Council, Philippe Brisebarre, presented the five quality signs, which are characterized by strict, transparent, controlled and state-recognized production specifications. He recalled the contribution of these signs to producers, sectors and territories.
SIQO production sectors create more jobs than conventional sectors. They have a decisive economic impact in France, with sales estimated at 42 billion euros. They also contribute to France's foreign trade, culture and gastronomy.

Another anniversary was celebrated today, that of 65 years of Label Rouge. Mickaël Benoit, Label Rouge pig farmer, shared the history and unchanging values of this label: superior quality, demanding, transparent and controlled production conditions. The presentation was accompanied by a testimonial from Pierre Cabrit, President of the Syndicat du Veau de l'Aveyron et du Ségala. With over 400 certified products, Label Rouge is synonymous with excellence. It is recognized by 97% of the French, proof of the confidence it inspires.

Speaking at this anniversary event, Dominique Huet, President of INAO's Comité national des IGP, LR et STG, spoke of the challenges ahead: firstly, the demand for quality; secondly, changing consumer expectations; thirdly, accessibility; and lastly, competition from other private labels. The challenge of accessibility is a major one: "In a tense economic context, consumers want quality, but at an affordable price. How can we reconcile excellence and accessibility?" A subject to which the Minister wished to respond. "A few decades ago, the French's food share occupied 30% of the budget. Today, it's half that. We need to awaken our compatriots to the idea that beautiful French agriculture, the most virtuous in the world, the most excellent, has its rightful place."
This conference also celebrated the 40th anniversary of the Organic Agriculture logo; 40 years of commitment to a production method that is more respectful of the environment, biodiversity, natural resources and animal welfare. On this occasion, Emeric Pillet, Director of theITAB - l'Institut technique de l'agriculture biologique -, presented the ITAB study on the positive effects of organic farming, the results of which confirm its real advantages in four areas in particular: water and soil, biodiversity, climate and health. The Organic Agriculture logo is also well identified by the French. "Today, over 10% of French farmland is organic, and the AB logo is known by 90% of French people. This production method is a reassurance to the other signs. It complements them." added Philippe Brisebarre.
