Conference: “SIQOs: A Major Asset for French Food Sovereignty”
Thursday, February 26, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – INRAE Booth, Hall 5.2, Booth B051
The INAO and INRAE are organizing a conference on the contribution of SIQOs to French food sovereignty.
In a world marked by geopolitical instability, market tensions, and climate change, food sovereignty is a major issue. SIQOs play an important role in this regard by ensuring sustainable, high-quality food production throughout the country, even in the most disadvantaged areas
The event will facilitate discussions among economists and researchers on three themes:
- Geographical Indications and “Labels Rouges,” as a shared heritage and a lever for action to promote the reterritorialization and sustainability of food systems;
- The role of Geographical Indications in protecting the French agricultural model within trade agreements;
- Quality and origin labels and the reduction of dependence on inputs.

SIQO at the Heart of the Concours Général Agricole
Saturday, February 21, through Tuesday, February 24 – CGA Booth, Pavilion 2.1
A true showcase of French agricultural and gastronomic excellence for over 150 years, the Concours Général Agricole will bring together 7,472 judges (2,500 professionals and 4,922 consumers) to taste and evaluate numerous exceptional products. SIQO-certified products are particularly well-represented there: in 2024, 74% of the winners bore an official mark of quality and origin. The INAO and the CGA are long-standing partners. In fact, 400 judges participate each year in training sessions led by INAO experts. Through these sessions, they deepen their knowledge of the products and learn about sensory analysis.
Once again this year, awards will also be presented to livestock farmers to recognize best agroecological practices. This initiative is carried out in partnership with the French Chambers of Agriculture and the Réseau Haies France. Divided into two categories—Pastures and Grazing Lands, and Agroforestry—these awards highlight practices that actively contribute to farm resilience, carbon sequestration, biodiversity conservation, and landscape protection.
