An exceptional product that reflects its terroir

In the heart of Touraine, on the right bank of the Loire, the Vouvray appellation has for nearly a century embodied the expression of a unique terroir listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Produced exclusively from the Chenin Blanc grape variety—also known as Pineau de la Loire—Vouvray wines come in a wide variety of styles: dry, off-dry, sweet, and sparkling.

This richness of profiles reflects the uniqueness of the vineyard, where tuffeau soils, cave-dwelling cellars, and the expertise of the winemakers shape wines renowned for their finesse, balance, and ability to express the terroir.

Recognized and Protected Expertise

Beyond its identity as a wine-growing region, Vouvray fully embodies the principles of the Official Signs of Quality and Origin (SIQO): highlighting the strong connection between a product, a terroir, and collective expertise passed down through the generations.

Recognized as an Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (AOC) since 1936, Vouvray demonstrates the industry’s ability to structure, protect, and sustain a living heritage, while adapting to changing practices and markets.

The INAO celebrates 90 years of recognition for the Vouvray appellation and the commitment of the winemakers who, year after year, uphold the high standards and identity of this unique terroir.
