SIA: INAO's Mission Handicap takes part in the event
During the Salon international de l'Agriculture, a visit by senior ministerial officials in charge of Disability and Inclusion led to a round-table discussion on the theme of professional integration for people with disabilities, on Friday, March 3, 2023.

As an operator of the Ministry and a member of the ministerial Handicap-Operators network, INAO spoke through the two referents of its Mission Handicap, Ms. Ariane Mathieu and Ms. Raphaëlle Anelka.
Sharing INAO's experience in helping people with disabilities
Through its Mission Handicap, set up in 2008, INAO has deployed a policy to promote the integration and job retention of workers with disabilities, invalidity, long-term illness and/or affected by health difficulties requiring support and dedicated schemes to improve and adapt their working conditions.
A long-term commitment
This testimonial was an opportunity to present the context that led to the creation of INAO's Mission Handicap, then named Mission RIHM ("Mission de Référent pour l'Insertion des personnes en situation de Handicap et/ou en longue maladie"). At the time, this structure was completely unprecedented in the Ministry's administration.
The first achievements were detailed, such as the drafting of a therapeutic telecommuting protocol, which was put in place in autumn 2010, well before the generalization of this work organization. The mission was able to support staff and managers faced with these difficulties, and contribute to changing mentalities. Around thirty employees have benefited from the assistance and support of Mission Handicap. Today, the rate of disabled people at INAO is 6% of the workforce.
A new dynamic in favor of the inclusion of people with disabilities
After a more difficult period linked to a change of organization, Mission Handicap is entering a new dynamic, in line with its original philosophy. Thus, the referents have highlighted the changes implemented to strengthen it, with regard to the law of August 6, 2019 on the transformation of the civil service, and the circular of March 17, 2022, relating to the implementation of the Handicap Referent function in the State civil service. In addition to upgrading Mission Handicap's scope of action, the changes enable effective networking, particularly through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Sovereignty's Handicap network.

The journey of the referents and the presentation of Mission Handicap's experience and developments met with a positive response from the audience and participants at this event.
